UNESCO LESSON PLAN- LIVING HERITAGE-QUILTING IN THE KALBELIA COMMUNITY OF RAJASTHAN

A proud moment for us! In the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Living Heritage Lesson Plan Contest 2023, St. Stephen’s has been selected to receive a Commendation Certificate for submitting the Lesson Plan titled ‘Living Heritage-Quilting in the Kalbelia Community of Rajasthan’. The Lesson Plan designed by Ms. Anshuma Tak and Ms. Shefali Samuel and implemented by the Social Science department as a classroom project focused on cultural heritage and traditional practices of Rajasthan. The Lesson Plan exemplifies the growing interest and awareness in utilizing local living heritage to enhance the relevance of education for the next generation. The students acquired the skill of creating quilted Kalbelia table mats through hands-on experience from a traditional cultural practitioner, Ms. Sushila Nath, who belongs to the Kalbelia community in Pushkar.
